These terms cover harlanfenton.com, the emails we send, and the digital products you buy from us. By using the site or buying a product, you agree to them. They are written to be read, so please read them.
1. Who we are

2. What we sell
Everything we sell is a digital download (PDF files). Nothing is shipped.

Prices can change. You pay the price shown at checkout when you buy. Sales tax may be added at checkout where the law requires it.
3. Buying
Payments are taken by Whop, our payment processor. Whop handles your card or other payment details; we never see or store them. Whop's own terms apply to the payment itself, and Whop sends your receipt.
As soon as your payment goes through, we email you a link to your download page, and the files are available there right away. Keep that email. If you lose it, write to us and we'll send a fresh link.
4. Your download link
Your link is for you. Please don't post or forward it. We may limit the number of downloads, switch off a link that has been shared, and send you a new one.
If we publish a corrected edition of a product you bought, we may put the new files on your download page at no charge.
5. The 30-day guarantee
If a product isn't worth it to you, write to contact@harlanfenton.com within 30 days of buying it and a person will refund you. You don't have to give a reason, and you keep what you downloaded. The details are in our Refund Policy.
6. Your license
When you buy, you get a personal license to download, keep, read and print the product for your own household. You may not share the files or resell them. The full terms are in our End User License Agreement. In short: pass on the paper, not the file.
7. General information, not advice
Our books, cards, videos, emails and website are general information about running a household. They are not medical, legal, financial or professional trade advice. Follow the directions and warnings on the label of any product you use. Gas, electrical and structural work is for a licensed professional. You are responsible for how you use the information. Please read our Disclaimer.
8. Emails
If you ask for the free Kitchen chapter, we send it, then the letters described when you signed up. If you buy, we send your download link and a few short notes about using what you bought, including an occasional offer. Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and one click takes you off the list. Unsubscribing never affects your access to what you bought.
9. What you send us
If you write to us with a method, a correction or a comment, we may use it to check and improve our books. We will only name you, or quote your words publicly, if you have told us yes, and you can take that permission back at any time by writing to us. We don't pay for reviews and we don't publish made-up ones.
10. Who owns what
The text, layout, design, index, marks (CHECKED, REPORTED, FOLK), images and videos in our products and on our site belong to us and are protected by copyright. The sources we cite belong to their publishers. Where we draw on public-domain books and government publications, those stay in the public domain; what is ours is our own writing and arrangement.
11. Using the site
Please don't copy the site or the products in bulk, scrape them, try to get around download limits, or interfere with how the site works.
12. No other promises
Apart from what these terms and our Refund Policy say, the site and products are provided "as is". We work hard to get every method right and to name its source, but we can't promise that every piece of information is complete, current or right for your home. Sources change their guidance; when we learn of it, we update the book.
13. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim about a product is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law that cannot be taken away.
14. If something goes wrong
Please write to contact@harlanfenton.com first. A person reads every message, and most problems are fixed by a reply. If you're thinking of disputing a charge with your bank, write to us first: a refund through us is quicker for you.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA. Any dispute that we can't settle by writing to each other goes to the state or federal courts in New York County, New York, except that either of us may bring a claim in a small-claims court where you live, if it qualifies there. If you live in a country whose law gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, nothing here takes that away.
16. Changes
We may update these terms. The version on this page, with its date, applies to purchases made from that date. A change never takes away a refund or license you already have.
